Xtreme Soundscapes Vol I DVD Release Show, Castways, Ithaca, NY - November 21, 2004

Divinity DestroyedWe did a DVD series for a few years called Xtreme Soundscapes. The idea was to feature live music from unsigned bands, and usually one big band, and explore awesome underground music. This was the first DVD release show. It was at Castways, Ithaca, NY on November 21, 2004. I do believe this was also the 2nd show we ever booked. You can watch and download all the Xtreme Soundscapes DVD's on Vimeo

The show consisted of a diverse line-up of Lotus Project (from the Ithaca area), Worm Quartet (from Rochester, NY), If Man is Five (from Binghamton, NY) doing an acoustic set, Divinity Destroyed (from Toms River, New Jersey), The Pushrods (from Elmira, NY), and The Wicthing (from Ithaca, NY). It was a pretty awesome show. All the bands have broken up aside from Worm Quartet, who is not as active as he once was. If Man is Five are attempting a comeback with a different lineup. There are pictures below, all from different sources. Here are some of the performances from that night...

May 1, 2005 - Angela from If Man is Five

FMG, Pat, JoeAngela, the Vocalist from If Man Is Five was there, (unfortunately band mate Brianna was ill and thus could not make it). She was there to talk about an upcoming concert. Saturday, May 7th (this Saturday) If Man Is Five and a bunch of bands, one of which is another LE visitor and favorite, the band Others, will be performing at The Lordes Breast Care benefit at The Skatepark In Johnson City. It costs $5 and should be a great show, so you should attend it! Angela performed lots of If Man Is Five songs acoustically on the air. She has an awesome extremely powerful voice as anyone who is at all familiar with the band knows. Her performances on LE rocked, her powerful voice blowing out all the levels as usual. It was awesome! A member of Lotus Project was there. No, of course not David, the worst co-host ever, he's too busy getting totally wasted every weekend, which is more important to him than his co-hosting duties, to bother to put in an appearance. No, it was Pat, the guitarist. Just Joe was there and being his usual stupid annoying obnoxious self. He and Azkath got into a fight, one which was to be the first of many that night. This one started when Just Joe threw a cup of water at Azkath. It hit the board, hitting a button that caused a squealing sound. Azkath grabbed a cup, put a little water in it, and began chasing Just Joe. Just Joe grabbed Pat and pulled him in front of him, meaning to use him as a human shield against the water he knew Azkath wanted to throw on him. But Pat just casually reached back and tossed his own cup of water (which had much more water in it than the one Azkath had), right into Just Joe's face. Pat was roundly congratulated for his nice work. It was decided that although Just Joe had not been told this beforehand, (who cares about such minor unimportant technicalities!?), that that was going to be considered his challenge for that night, which, of course, he had now lost. Just Joe just doesn't seem to do too well with any challenges involving glasses of water apparently. Pat got to pick a song to be played for winning the Just Joe Challenge, and Just Joe did not get to pick one for losing his challenge. Then there was another brawl. Pat threw Just Joe on the ground, and Azkath stepped on his head and made it bleed. Later, Just Joe was becoming rambunctious and annoying yet again (he just can't seem to help himself). Pat and Azkath both attacked him again. And this time, in edition to thoroughly beating him down, they totally destroyed his chips. Azkath sat on the chips many times. By the time they were through, the poor chips were absolutely totally and thoroughly crushed. Now you can kill Just Joe, you can brutally beat him, you can torture him... All of this he is just fine with. But mistreat his potato chips, well, this he finds absolutely and totally devastating! He was crying over his ruined chips. Pat left, and Azkath told Just Joe that he wasn't going to beat him any more. Well, not any more for the rest of that night, at least. In fact, Azkath told Just Joe that the rest of the night would Be Just Joe appreciation time. This time was spent telling Just Joe that they liked him and loved having him there. And in fact, as part of this Just Joe appreciation, Just Joe finally got a song by Triumph (one of his favorite ones) played for him. And so that was the show. At the end of it, Azkath told Just Joe that now Just Joe appreciation time was over, and that that would be the last of it. So, this week, we go back to hating Just Joe and to trying to destroy him.

April 17, 2005 - David's Last Stand

David and JoeThe absolute worst miserable excuse for a co-host of all time hands down actually saw fit to put in an extremely rare appearance. Yes, that's right, David of Lotus Project was actually there... For all of one whole talk break! How nice of him! He was kind enough to drop by to let us know that this would be his last appearance on LE before he moves to Florida at the end of May. Now, since that is a month and a half away, you might ask why he couldn't fulfill his co-host duties for at least some of that time. Well, it seems he has some much more important things to do with his weekends... He plans to get totally wasted on every remaining weekend between now and then... Ah, the dedication! The loyalty! The commitment! How will LE ever manage without him!? He also has his short poser haircut now. And sadly, it appears that Lotus Project will probably break up. Too bad, as they were a great band. They are however, going to try and still put out their CD, so watch for that. See, because of David's selfishness (just having to move away!) a great band had to die. Lousy co-host, and lousy band mate. Crow was there. He talked about The Pushrods upcoming CD release show. It's Friday, the 22nd of April, (this Friday) at Castaways. It's in the middle of their 80's night, and The Pushrods go on at 11:00. They will also be shooting the video for their song "Girls In Vinyl Skirts", and they will be giving out free Pushrods stuff (beer mugs and free beer included) to the first 50 people through the door. So it should be a fun night, and you should all attend. Just Joe was there and still gloating over his winning his challenge the week before (lasting two minutes in a shoot fight with Azkath, and not submitting or tapping out). Azkath told him that, for his challenge this week, they would have a rematch. He told him that, this time, it would be outside, and that just Joe had to try and last for just one minute in a shoot fight. And that, if somehow he did manage to do that, he could hear some Triumph. Just Joe was full of confidence (among other things) and they started outside... On their way out, Azkath asked Just Joe "what was that, over there, by the wall?". Just Joe got distracted (that's easy to do with him), asking what?, and then saying that he didn't see anything. Then there was a horrible clang as Azkath bashed Just Joe over the head with a steel chair. The hit was so hard it left a Just Joe shaped dent in the chair and knocked Just Joe out cold. And, since he was so nice and unconscious and all, Azkath took this opportunity to return him to the basement, dragging him again, so that his head banged against every single step again on the way down, and locking him in there. After awhile, Just Joe came to and phoned upstairs. He was livid. He said he hated them. They were laughing at him saying why would he hate them, and telling him to enjoy the basement, as he would be there a long time. Just Joe said that oh no he wouldn't either, as he had a secret weapon. They didn't believe him and kept laughing at him. Just Joe said that they would let him out. They said that, no, they would not. But Just Joe kept insisting that oh yes they would because he had this secret weapon, which he was sure that Foul Mouth Girl especially would be very interested in. They finally asked him what this secret weapon was... He said that he had Foul Mouth Girl's jacket, and was wearing it, and singing "Weird Guy in a Little Coat". FMG became extremely enraged at this (fortunately not enough to swear though, for a miracle), and took off for the basement screaming that Just Joe would pay for this. Well, who can blame her!? I mean, who would want Just Joe wearing anything of theirs!? I mean, you just never know where he's been! *shudder* And besides, Just Joe was threatening to do terrible things to the hostage. FMG Got down to the basement, and attacked Just Joe. But, then there was a thud, and, unfortunately, Just Joe emerged from the basement. In a moment, FMG could be heard, from the basement, saying that Just Joe had knocked her down and made it up the stairs and out the door before she could get up and get there. So, now she was locked down there. Luckily, she somehow still managed to keep from swearing. Will wonders never cease!? Just Joe was quite pleased with himself, and began bragging again. And, apparently, The Almighty Monkey called into the show again (not on air). He threatened to make a visit to the show sometime (And just over ten years later, he did!). Just Joe and The Almighty Monkey! Just picture it! On second Thought, I don't think I want to picture that! *shudder* And so went LE for that week. Now Just Joe has lost two of his challenges. And, come to think of it, when he loses them, he loses in the 1st second (first with Crow and the glass of water, and then to Azkath with the steel chair, so, I guess, if he can just get past the 1st second, then he's alright).

March 20, 2005 - Vern Returns

LEA member of Lotus Project was there. No, not David. Of course not David, you really didn't think the worst excuse for a co-host ever actually showed up did you!? No, it was Pat, the guitarist. Just Joe was also there, and was on time this week. The Penguin was also there briefly. But, unfortunately for her, not briefly enough to escape being thrown in the snow again by Just Joe and having Just Joe put snow down her pants. Poor Penguin! Well, the snow should be gone soon Penguin (even in central NY). And, on this night, she would not be alone. No that was the first of a long night of many people going into the snow many times, but more on that in a bit. She also got her ass smacked a lot. Now I'm sure you will all recall that, after all the build up, and all the weeks of waiting, this was the week that the combined Wheel Of Satan / Keys To The Apocalypse's count down would run out, and we would finally find out if we would have an Armageddon. Now, I said in last weeks recap that we might get an Armageddon, or that, perhaps, it might go back to playing The Teletubbies, which, of course, would be a much worse fate than an Armageddon... So, now the big moment was almost upon us, and all waited with bated breath to see what would occur... The thing had been brought up from the basement, which meant that the echoing distorted reality was back. But not for too long, as the thing only had some seconds to go on it's count down, which everyone counted down together... And then two horrible things happened... The thing did go back to playing The Teletubbies, which Just Joe was thrilled about, but that's just because he's an idiot. For the rest of us... Now how could anything possibly be more horrible than that? But, as if that wasn't bad and evil enough, there was something else. Vern!!! Yes, the mopkin was baaaaack! Well, first off, Azkath ordered Just Joe to kick the wheel (which Just Joe kept refusing to do, as he wanted it to go on playing The Teletubbies) to try to make all this terribleness go away. It did get kicked eventually, by Vern, and the Teletubbies went away. However, unfortunately, Vern's being there did not. Apparently, the wheel was not what had brought him there after all. He said that he had came back because he had heard that they were going to have The Wheel Of Satan, and that he wanted to be there for that. That plus it was his show, and it had sucked so badly in his absence, that he couldn't stay away any longer. (he sounds a lot like Jeffie in these delusional regards). Now, from here on out, there are a lot of twists and turns in what went on... I am not sure even my memory can keep track of all of them, and just how many times things went back and forth, but I will do my best to summarize, but this one's going to be a work out. Ok, here we go, let's see... Vern picked up where he had left off, as annoying and obnoxious as ever, insulting everyone. He started insulting Just Joe, and Just Joe killed him! Yes, that's right, Just Joe did what many had tried and failed to do quite easily. It's not known how he does these things (he was also the one, you will recall, who finally got rid of Friend, after many had tried and failed at that), but, somehow, he does. He killed the puppet, which meant that The Eternal Void (whom Vern had taken complete control over a long time ago) was back. The Void thought Just Joe was the greatest ever for freeing him and became his number one fan, fawning all over him and praising everything he did. Actually, everyone for once thought Just Joe was pretty neat, as he had gotten rid of the puppet. Just Joe tossed the puppet corpse in the snow. Then it was suggested that Just Joe throw his new number one fan in the snow. He did, and this lead to some extremely chaotic and disturbing events taking place in the snow. An orgy in the snow involving Just Joe and his new fan. Azkath told Just Joe that he could actually pick a song for his good work throwing people in the snow, and for getting rid of Vern. And, surprisingly, Just Joe did not pick Elf. He picked Dick Delicious And The Tasty Testicles doing "Masturbating For A Better Tomorrow", which he sent out to Lance. Then, somehow, Vern was back, probably because the Void and Vern were together again in the snow. For awhile... Then there was more snow activity. And the puppet was dead again. Azkath Told Just Joe to throw his fan in the snow again. The Void suggested that he and Just Joe throw Azkath in the snow. Azkath said that there was now going to be a bloody snow orgy... The three of them went out into the snow. When they all were back inside... Weeelllll... There was some dispute as to just what had gone on and who had won, and who had lost... Just Joe and his fan were gloating, saying that they had won. Azkath said that he did not exactly lose and described some of the things he had done to them, DDT-ing them and such. Then they pointed out that they had put snow down his pants. He had to concede that that was true. But, then said that actually Just Joe had done him a favor, as it was hot inside and now he had a well, a built in cooler I guess you could say. He thanked Just Joe and told him he was pretty cool. (ha, unintended pun there!) Then Vern was back, for awhile... Azkath told Just Joe that for a reward, he was going to play The Dave Mathews Band... Just Joe was thrilled, and Vern was furious, saying it would ruin "his" show. He stormed off and threw himself in the snow. Then Azkath told Just Joe that he was not going to play Dave Mathews. Then The Void was back, but now he was acting more like Vern, saying it was his show and being obnoxious, since he had now saved himself from Vern. Then It was decided that as FMG was the only person who had not gone into the snow that night (well, all except for Pat, he never did), that this should change. She protested and resisted, but Just Joe and Azkath teamed up and threw her in the snow. Azkath told Just Joe that they made a good team, and thanked him again. Then Vern And The Void were both there arguing with each other over who was the greatest. It was said that Just Joe was better than both of them. Then, at the end of the night, it was Vern again and worse than ever. He attacked Azkath and was humping his head (a fate that the late Zoltan, among others, had the misfortune of experiencing). Just Joe said that, if humping was going on, then he wanted to be part of it... And apparently Just Joe started humping Vern. Vern screamed that he hates humping, (which was quite a shock for everyone to hear!), and ran away, so, Azkath thanked Just Joe yet again. And thus went a disturbing chaotic very, very snow filled night. No Armageddon, Teletubbies, Nothing much from the wheel, Vern, and a lot of praise for Just Joe, and, lots and lots of snow. Very weird upside down night.

March 6, 2005 - New Pushrods CD and David's Last Stand

Just Joe was not there. They were not sure why this was, or where he was. It was eventually concluded that he may have attended the GWAR concert, and that, if so, GWAR had probably killed him. Crow from The Pushrods was there, so, once again, there was Pushrods representation on LE. However, there will not be for the next few weeks, as they are going on tour and, thus, will be elsewhere. Crow brought along their new CD, which is done and now available. It rocks, and the price is very reasonable. And, oh wonder of wonders!, guess who else was there for once?! No, not the person who would win the award for person with worst record of attendance, that would be, of course, Shoebox. No it was the person who would hands down be the runner up for worst co-host of all time... Yes, (drum roll) co-host David, bassist for the band Lotus Project, actually finally saw fit to put in an appearance after months of absence! And he informed us that he is cutting his hair short (on March 18th, mark that incredibly important date down!), leaving Lotus Project in three months, and moving to Florida. Well, it could be worse, at least it's not Jersey, where he has spent an ungodly amount of time for some unfathomable reason. I don't know how LE will manage to make it without him, after all, what will they ever do without all of the tireless, selfless, loyalty, dedication, hard work and long hours that he's put in as co-host!? I don't see how they can, but, I'm sure they will find a way to muddle through without him, somehow, extremely difficult though it will be, the show must go on, and thus, it will... Somehow. True to form, David left after a couple hours, nothing's changed there. Crow was there for most of the night, then left to rest up and get ready for their upcoming tour. We got to hear some of the tracks from the new CD played. It sounded great.
